What is an American?

An American can be people who are citizens from the United States. An American is English, French, Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, Arab, Pakistani or Afghan. An American is also free to believe in any religion. He will answer only to his/her God and not to the government or armed thugs, who claim to speak for the Government and for God. An American understands that in order to achieve in life, requires action, exertion, and effort.
Americans aren't idle daydreamers; they take the initiative. Fortune did not fall into these people’s lap. They traveled to America to find work in order to pursue their dreams, establishes them, and make it possible to bring over their families. Sometimes they suffered in order to achieve their dream. To be an American, is to be someone who has rights. It is important to use your rights when you need to.
To be an American is to be free. When you’re free, you get to do whatever you want. You don’t have to follow or do what others tell you to do because you’re an American and you’re free. You don’t have to be a slave for others because you have rights and you have freedom. When you’re an American, you live in a place that’s comfortable for you and the ones who surround you; you feel comfortable that your neighbors are your friends. You feel that you’re at home because you’re actually at home. When you’re an American, you fight for what’s right. You fight for what’s right for your community. You do what’s best for your people because hopefully they would do the same for you. You would all help one another because that’s what Americans should do.
An American is someone who works hard for their lands. An American works hard to gain what they want. An American does not want to be pushed by anyone and, therefore, works hard and has confidence in them self. To be an American is to have freedom. The United States is such a shining example of what a society of free
Americans can achieve. America! For more than two hundred years, the word “America” has represented hope, opportunity, a second chance, and freedom. In America, the accident of a child’s birth does not serve as an inescapable weight that dictates a person’s fate or that of his family because everyone has freedom.
Once a newcomer has stepped on American soil, has he or she leaves their old government behind. A willingness to work hard of one’s own decisions, the possession of a spirit of enterprise, and a little bit of luck are the keys to the doors of success in the immigrants “new world” home. Here is a land of free people, who are able to pursue their dreams and fulfill their peaceful desires. They are free men and women, who can put themselves to work, acquire property, accumulate wealth, and make their own decisions.
Americans can trade their ideas and they can trade their talents through a network of division of labor, which is kept in order through the competitive processes of market-guided supply and demand. Every American has the opportunity to start his own business. Every American has an opportunity to be the master of his or her own fate with the freedom to move in which ever direction he or she chooses. There is a quote by Nelson that also goes with this statement which says “I am the master of my own fate… I am captain of my soul.”
